In the play Antigone by Sophocles, antigone is one of the four kids of Oedipus. As a result Oedipus, the king of thebes dies and a new king has to be chosen. Antigone has two brothers in which they fight in battle to have the power of being ruler of thebes. As a result, they both die in battle, so the only choice there is, is creon, antigone’s uncle. Creon decided to make a special burial for Eteocles but not for Polyneices due to the fact that Creon believe that he was a traitor and that Polyneices body shall be put in the city of thebes to be watched, rotten and eaten by species. Antigone’s decision was to go against creon and go behind his back to give her brother a proper burial. Therefore due to her bravery and rebellious self she finds herself breaking the law getting her held in prison and later commiting suicide.
In line 99 antigone state “oh,oh,no! Shout it out. I will hate you still worse for silence should you not proclaim it, to everyone.” So in the moment of her saying that, she was talking to her sister ismene in order to get her to team up and give her brother a proper burial. The reason she stated that was because she wants the people of thebes to know how powerful and arrogant creon is. She also wants people to know how creon is towards his family in which case it will show that he doesn't care much about his family and it will also show how biased he is. What this shows of antigone's worldview and values is that she cares about others and that choose to bury her brother even though she knew the consequences, therefore, these actions determined her fate which is death.
So on line 84-85 antigone states I shall be a criminal- but a religious one" i believe this means that according to her she is only a criminal in the eyes of Creon and his laws, but not in the eyes of religion and the gods. Antigone says the king is not higher then the gods because even the king will eventually die basically saying that being spiritual is much more powerful than jusy being an ordenary king on earth. On the other hand,the gods will always remain. The king's laws will die with him but the gods' laws will never die due to their strong followers meaning the every king has their own way of settling their laws. In Spite of that the laws of gods are not necessarily secure, said by antigone. So therefore her true values and world views were shown due to her loyalty of family oriented and her faith.
One post modern person that has similar traits with creon is Adolf Hitler due to the fact that he was a dictator and he would use his powers against his people. They both also were also biased in a way that if someone doesnt like them or is against them, they would either be killed or tortured. Something similar is that they don't like to admit when they are wrong and they are to stubborn to admit anything.
