Lecture #1: One of my favorite lectures in Prof. Brady class was when we read the story called "A Street Car Named Desire". The reason why this lecture is one of my favorite is due to the fact that we were talking about perception and how it relates to one of the characters in the story named Blanche. It was interesting to know how many individuals can fantasize or have illusions of their life during a tragedy. I learned that people make up these illusions in order to forget the past and visualize their life as if nothing has happened. It is crazy due to the fact that not many people are able to fantasize a good life after a tragedy, i know i wouldn't but after reading this story i realized that fantasizing is the only in which ones mind can try and forget about the past.
Lecture #2 : My second favorite lecture was in the beginning of the semester when we were talking about the story of "Antigone" and how we were talking about our opinions on tragic heroes. Antigone is perceived to be the tragic hero of the play ‘Antigone” due to the fact that as her trying to make things right, things just started falling out by her life getting ripped apart bit by bits.Antigone has a couple of unfortunate imperfections going for her, or rather against her. Her devotion to the gods and her sibling's memory implies that she should be traitorous to Creon. She knew since the start that if her doing such a thing, disobeying the law, It would lead to a tragedy. Even though Creon also had a dramatic fall, Antigone got what she desired and gave hope to the city of Thebes. What i gained from this lesson is to never give up and if you feel like there should be change in the world, to do something about it
Lecture #3: My third favorite lesson was on the first day of school when Prof. Brady made everyone talk to each other and write about their partners background. The significance of this lesson was to help us make connections with other classmates. These connections would make it easier to communicate effectively and ask peer support with difficult class assignments. As someone who is not from the Long Island area. it was intriguing to learn about a Long Islanders everyday life. What I gained from this was that it is not as hard to communicate and speak in front of others like i though it would be.
